Governing Council and Parent Committees

 

Woodend PS has a Governing Council, consisting of 14 parents or community members elected at an AGM in March each year and three staff members including the Principal. The Council meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7.00 pm in the staff room. Staff have two elected representatives, plus the Principal and the Deputy is an ex officio member. The Governing Council has a number of sub-committees:

As well, the school has a Class Parent Network and reference group. This group meets with the principal and representatives of the Governing Council twice per term to act as a reference group on educational matters. This group also has a role in supporting parent education initiatives.

The role of the Class parent is to liaise with teachers about proposed events; to welcome new parents to the school; to formulate phone trees to encourage contact between families; and to provide advice to School Council on Educational needs and school programmes.
